Music is an integral part of school life at Mornington Park Primary School. Students participate in music from Prep through to Grade 6. Students in the junior classes explore beat and rhythm using a variety of tuned and un-tuned percussion instruments, through singing, dancing and playing musical games. During the middle and senior years students continue to develop their understanding and appreciation of music through participating in Recorder Karate, learning ukulele, guitar and keyboard, and performing in class ensembles.
The school music program offers students the opportunity to participate in the Junior and Whole School choirs that perform annually at The Mornington Peninsula Harmonies Unite Choral Festival.
The instrumental program provides students with the opportunity to learn a wide range of instruments including piano, violin, cello, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, singing, guitar and drums.
Students have a number of opportunities to showcase their talents at school events, festivals, assemblies and concerts.
