What is Steiner Education?
A Steiner education is dedicated to creating a genuine love of learning within each child.
By freely using art, craft, music and language in conjunction with the teaching of academics, learning becomes a living, creative process. The academic subjects are enriched and enlivened in a way that meets the developmental stages of the children.

Main Features of the Steiner Program:
An emphasis on play, problem solving and social development in the early years.
Continuity. The same trained Steiner teacher following the class from Years 1 to 6.
Art, music, craft and gardening are core activities undertaken within the class.
Storytelling is an essential element of the Program, fostering the beauty of language.
Singing and recorder playing, as well as dancing and rhythmic work sharpen the powers of concentration and coordination.
Specialist teachers for Eurhythmy (the expression of sound through dance-like movement) and Language Other Than English (LOTE).
From Class 3 all students learn violin, cello or viola.
Learning is non-competitive. Ranking and reward are not used, reducing pressure and allowing motivation to arise from within. Each child’s progress is closely monitored by the teacher.
Both in the classroom and the playground respect for other human beings is fostered in an atmosphere of peaceful co-operation.
Reverence and respect for nature is encouraged.
Fosters capacities which provide for a smooth transition to secondary school.
